SINGAPORE – Once seen as inferior alternatives to brand names, house brands by supermarket chains and e-commerce retailers are now enjoying brisk sales – fuelled by price-conscious consumers during the pandemic and a rising cost of living.

Businesses have been quick to respond by bumping up their offerings – from food and household staples such as toilet rolls and rice, to clothing and electronics items.
